Lino Gentilini Preis 2023 für die Dissertation von Dr. Giulia Boller

Giulia Boller’s Doctoral Dissertation “The model as a working method. Heinz Isler’s experimental approach to shell design”, supervised by Prof. Dr. Joseph Schwartz (second advisor Prof. Dr. Laurent Stalder, co-​examiners Prof. Dr. John Chilton, Prof. Dr. Antoine Picon), has been awarded the 2023 Lino Gentilini Dissertation Award.

The motivation of the committee:

Giulia Boller ha dedicato il suo lavoro di dottorato, condotto presso l’ETH di Zurigo, all’ingegnere svizzero Heinz Isler (1926-​2009), tra i più rilevanti progettisti di strutture sottili in cemento armato. Curriculum Vitae

Giulia Boller, an engineer and an architect, is a lecturer and postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich. Her research interests lie at the interface between history, architecture and structural engineering disciplines.

Giulia Boller gained professional experience at Renzo Piano Building Workshop. She graduated with honours in Building Engineering and Architecture at the University of Trento (Italy) in 2015. Her research work has already been recognized by the 2023 ETH Medal for outstanding doctoral theses.
